South Seattle is full of love for healthy forests!  This month we had a large crew of local volunteers who planted, mulched, and tagged about 85 plants, adding vigor and vitality to the forest on this Valentine weekend.

The day was windy, and gave us a healthy reminder about the urgency we face in restoring this forest now.  Much of the existing canopy consists of Big Leaf Maple trees nearing (or even past) the end of their life span, and every time the wind blows, it seems another tree falls in Cheasty Greenspace.  Our volunteers are racing against time to get the next generation of trees growing up before the canopy is gone altogether.
